Quests are special events that Runescape players can participate on outside the usual course of the game of the Runescape world. These are events usually programmed to provide Runescape players with another dimension of battling new monsters with plots, a storyline that is provided to players who look for something more than the usual journeys they have in Runescape.

Ideally, Runescape players are tasked to obtain a certain object or hunt and defeat higher skilled monsters to be rewarded. Obstacles along the way such as subsidiary but moderately skilled monsters are usually to be met. Runescape quests are usually made to encourage group adventures, each skilled in a certain skill such as masters in magic, long distance combat and melee skills. This is done to widen the specialization of each Runescape player and acknowledge their importance and the power of their chosen mastered skill. A successful triumph of a Runescape quest will naturally merit rewards in the form of money and rare items not normally seen in vendors or standard killing of monsters. The usual monetary rewards are divided towards the Runescape players should they decide to form alliances in order to conquer such tasks.

There are of course the witty and hardcore players who want to take on journeys alone. While the road may lead to a lengthy adventure for them, nothing beats conquering a quest on their own. Tactics such as outside analysis on how to be able to defeat strong monsters will prove to be mind-boggling, and heads up face to face combat will surely be not enough. Some players have apprehensions of participating in quests. It cannot be discounted that some Runescape players would resort to Runescape hacks or cheats to be able to accomplish certain tasks such as quests.
