Faster Skills But Higher Security Risks
For hardcore online players that participate in such online games like Runescape, there will always be the search for external programs or toolkits to help a Runescape character develop faster skills. While much of these developed Runescape toolkits come from programmers who study the whole ordeal of being able to level up, security risks and potential hacking cannot be disregarded by such. In most cases, hidden malware and key loggers are included without the knowledge of the people who download such programs, making it entirely risky for the computer once they start to use such toolkits.
Like most role players in such MMPORG games as Runescape, the main goal is to always attain faster skill gains and make money at the easiest way possible. This is because the journeys and battled that most players find themselves into becomes more manageable compared to newbie characters that always find a hard time coping up with the game proper. For example, to craft certain items would require a certain skill level, something that can only be done through constant repetition and practice of actual items that they can do at their level. As skill levels increase, so does their ability to be able to make other items. For fighters, the damage and protection level that their character has will become manageable the higher they become.
Thus having said the benefits of high skilled players, it is not surprising why most people would do anything to be able to achieve high skill gains. With external tools that help automate repetitive actions without the need to monitor each keystroke makes life easier for the addicted players of Runescape. However, similar to flaws in the system of the Runescape world as far as security is concerned, also applies to the overall security of the workstation of the player. This is not to say that most Runescape toolkits available for download over the web are not safe, but rather a precautionary measure to such programs, especially the ones made by programmers. There is no telling what other surprises may spring up from them.
Open source codes should be made available for audit. Although not all gamers are good programmers, studying the logic behind the programming methodology will make life entirely convenient for the people who are in need of such external toolkits. Runescape is indeed a virtual world where characters become stronger and accomplished by obtaining the needed levels of their chosen skill. But prior to this, a safety measure as far as programs are concerned should also be taken into consideration. Runescape is only a game, but for most Runescape players, it means more than that, especially when it comes to fulfilling their roles in the world of Runescape.
